Brianna D. first experienced StepUp Ministry through the Children’s Program. At that time, her mom was a StepUp participant, so Brianna would engage with other children whose parents were also in life skills classes. Years later, she is still connected to StepUp!
Today Brianna participates in the Real World Program, where she is developing the skills to independently establish her life. “I appreciate learning about different skills that I can actually apply as I am ready to transition into the ‘real world’,” she shares. “Real World is a great program if you need guidance or just a little push — it will help you achieve your goals and get where you are trying to go.”
She is currently building pivotal life skills such budgeting, cooking, and time management. However, Brianna realizes some ideas are learned over time: “I’ve gotten older, so I can appreciate the concepts I’m learning more now.”
As Brianna considers the years she has been at StepUp, she is thankful: “I have grown up with StepUp and it’s nice to have a community of people who care about me.”
From the Children’s Program to the Real World Program, Brianna is a reflection of StepUp’s family-centric, multi-generational approach to achieving success at every age.
