Makeda Transitions to Furnished Home
On Saturday, November 7th, 2015, an empty house became a home for Makeda Pride. This was due to her appointment with one of our Resource Partners: Green Chair Project.
The Green Chair Project (GCP) is a non-profit that makes gently used furnishings available at low or no cost to individuals referred by its partner agencies. GCP provides a successful transition to self-sufficiency as participants furnish their homes and create a nurturing environment for themselves and their families.
Makeda arrived for her 12pm appointment with her U-Haul truck, a friend, a list of items (ranging from a dresser to lamps), and her trusty measuring tape. She met with her Case Manager and a GCP representative. They spent an hour in the establishment shopping. The end result was Makeda being able to furnish her new apartment space, very affordably.
StepUp Ministry is proud to partner with Green Chair Project and looks forward to sharing in more home furnishing appointments in the future.
