StepUp at White Memorial
Every year, White Memorial Presbyterian Church graciously hosts StepUp Sunday. This means that StepUp volunteers, participants and staff take over the services for one Sunday. On January 18th, StepUp took over White Memorial’s three services. There were three participant speakers who told their stories:
Kay Moseley, 50
Kay was Born here in Raleigh. She has 6 sisters and both her parents are still alive. She has a daughter who is 35-years-old and 3 grandchildren. Kay works as a residential Manager for Rescare. As a member of the StepUp Alumni Program, Kay is also a part of the IceHouse and Toast Masters class. She is also a Reiki Master/Teacher. In the next year, she will start a year-long program to become a Shaman. Her goal is to is to start a business in alternative medicine.
Maria Lyons, 41
Maria is the Office Administrator for a Christian counseling practice. She is the mother of 2 boys, wife of 18 years, current student at ECU, and a StepUp Alumni program member. Her plan is to complete her education with an MBA and grow her life-learned skill set to pursue new experiences.
Roderick E. A. Perry II, 17
Rod is a Junior at Cary High and member of the Real World Program. He is an All Conference Football player and undefeated wrestler. Once in college, his area of study will be engineering. His dream is to begin an NFL career after college.
During the Sunday School hour, Shawnethia, a current Life Skills participant, received her hard-earned car from Wheels4Hope!
